Jim, found out that ripping those 2x4's on the old Rockwell saw is just too hard on the motor. I have a large number of used southern pine 2x4's Ive collected and saved, So, made a southern style screen door out of the two I ripped before stopping. Yup, went to pricing 1x6 boards, they're...

Got the Tascam head installed. Have a nice tape path across the head, matching the original light wear marks on this used head. The erase head has always been slightly offset , guess it's alignment isn't super critical. Not gonna worry about it at this point. That hard drive platter mirror sure...

Waiting on some flooring to ship out of Dalton GA for the house, so back on the bench after a long break. All four TDK MA-C90 tapes I recently picked up complete processing on the Microscan system with no errors. So, TDK D, SA, and MA test tapes now very reliably process, every single time. The...

Is the transformer wired properly? Hard to see from the photo, the black electrical tape and non original zip ties.

Luxman M-02 amplifier, the dumbest amplifier ever.

I guess, heat rises. Poor engineering to have those components on the bottom side.

    Multimeter Fuses.

I've found NOS genuine fuses for all my Flukes (I now have six, with a additional 8920A now on the way to me) on eBay. Yeah, some of the larger ceramics are expensive, but I can usually find a good deal for a quantity of 5 or more. Can't remember paying more than $5 each for the odd ball larger...

Tri amping and protecting the tweeter

Four way active here. Nothing between the amps and individual drivers but Monoprice wire. Granted the JBL 033 tweeters aren't expensive, are easy to rebuild, and I have extras, So I gave it a go. No problems so far. But then, there's no way I can accidentally generate a turn on thump with the...

    Passive Horizontal Bi-Amping question

That was my experience from running full range frequency sweeps using REW (Room Equalizer Wizard) when setting up the MiniDsp active crossover. The 700 WOPL driving stereo subs, 400 WOPL driving woofers, another 400 WOPL driving the mids, and a recapped stock PL300S2 on the tweeters. The gain...

I'd pull the meters and try to separate the meter case with safety razor blades. It'll probably pop right open with a little work as the meter bulbs should be a serviceable item. If the springs look good, then the pivots are probably tight. Perhaps the prior "mechanic" overtightened the mounts...

    Old, untouched, unmolested.

A superb tweeter amp for a big active crossover system. Best I can describe it's output is fast, accurate, and clean. Works extremely well with WOPL's. I like the lack of meters and how it matches the other Series 2 components.

    Where's George??

I'm back. Had 4 weeks to do a kitchen renovation while everyone else in the house was gone temporarily. Then got most of the carpet in the house gone. Carpet tack strips on two sets of stairs and all. Sand, fill, refinish, etc. Lot's of wall sanding, painting, etc, still to be done. Getting it...

    PL7000S2

A very nice fit with the brass shim in place. Will be very easy to Loctite these in place. Photo shows the heads pushed all the way up for maximum penetration, compared to the NOS Sendust beside it. Nice to have that adjustability when using the gauge to set it up. Head height of the tape track...
