Restored Pioneer SA 9500 static noise

Its in the preamp on mine for sure . Is your DC offset high? I'm thinking maybe it's a damaged ground connection on a board, not at the pins.

Restored Pioneer SA 9500 static noise

I swapped out the KSC3503 on the SB for KSC2383O's no change. I ordered the higher gain KSC2383Y. I'm going to put back the 2SC1451's Digging into that slight hum in right.

Restored Pioneer SA 9500 static noise

I posted this on AK maybe a fresh set eyes here at Phoenix, I did follow MIJ_Pioneer SA 95000 restore thread and it came out great, of course I moved on to something else. Come to find out I get intermitting static in both channels. The static is not affected by any switch or pot. Its louder in...

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

Looking at the bearing with the big eyes it its white ball . I agree I think the stepped feel is normal . There were some marks on the shaft that came with 1000/3000 grid spinning in my drill press. The motor bushing must be bad. I will mostly just buy a new motor and belt . I give one more...

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

I think the shaft (pulley side) has flat spots on it . With the motor in half's if I back out the shaft it spins smoothly all the way in it fells like step audio pot.

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

when motor starts getting warm (no belt connected) the noise starts also. The hotter the motor gets the louder the noise.

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

The bearing is oiled and uses a white plastic-looking disc at the bottom to support the spindle. It is the original belt maybe that is dragging . The speed was never an issue so I haven't replaced. I'm going to run the motor with no belt .

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

The super lube didn't last the noise is back . The TT ran quite with no record when testing 3 for four times this week. After playing one LP the noise is back and the noise is there with or without a record on the platter or the belt connected .The motor is hot but I can touch it. When the...

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

I didn't use the old grease it looked ok but had a waxy stickie feel to it . I went with Super Lube in motor and some capstan lube I have for a Revox B215 for the main bearing. The manual suggested Mobil 1 or any synthetic with Teflon for the mail bearing, I think capstan lube fits the bill. The...

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

I was able to take the motor apart . I was thinking just redistributing the original lube paste ,its not dry up and there's plenty of it, clean too. The bushings appear to be brass, not bronze anyway. All I have is super lube and light weight turbine oil which will probably run out. I can...

    Music Hall MMf5 motor noise

I can hear the motor running on my MH turntable and there is scorching on the motor shaft. I am the original owner and didn't play it to death ,I have other TT's. The motor is still playing at the right speed . Does the motor shaft scorching indicate that the oil impregnated bushing has dry out...

    Flattening a warped record.

I have the Record PI record flattener, it works . I liked their logic on flattening records and like gadgets so I bought one. It all depends on how "bad" the warped is. To many variables to get into it here. They do mention that household ovens do not maintain a consistent temp at low levels...

    dbx Service manuals

I'm still looking for the SM or schematics for the dbx BX2 (Audio Dynamics B-200) and the dbx CX1. I'm going to have to recap these without them as I'm not getting any younger . There doesn't seem to be any DC offset adjust on the BX2 ,just the idle current ?

    Capstan shaft thrust movement

I think the flywheel set by that notch is what they did. The oil impregnated washer must have dried out.

    Capstan shaft thrust movement

I was able to remove the burr no problem. That washer mics at 0.008" thick. I think setting the flywheel using the notch on capstan shaft is all I can do. You can adjust it some for more or less play but its minimal. I agree there should be some play to prevent binding. Teac assembly must have...

    Capstan shaft thrust movement

With the flywheel installed it would be hard to measure for the 0.01". The only adjustment is to move the flywheel on shaft (there is a notched spot in it). There is no back thrust adjustment just a pad. The other picture is of the flywheel and washer. There is burr around the edges of the...
