Owner of The Turntable Shop in North Vancouver passed away

When I first learned of Nick's passing, I envisioned myself being considered an unsecured creditor therefore getting diddly squat for compensation. I had no clue what assets or bona fide creditors were involved. With no transaction records kept, it seemed quite possible my claim could be...

Owner of The Turntable Shop in North Vancouver passed away

Since my last post in May, I was given contact info for a lawyer who was handling the estate of Nick and his business, The Turntable Shop. After a couple of e-mails, I spoke with the lawyer yesterday. He stated that Nick's brother in the US, the executor, had given him the wherewithal to...

Some years ago I sent a Teac A3300 open reel recorder from Vancouver to Montreal for head work. Not sure why I chose to ship FedEx, probably cost. At the depot, I did the paperwork and paid the freight. Next I asked the attendant for some Fragile stickers to attach to the box. He explained...

Your opinion on Fuse speaker location

A $2000 fuse makes these capacitors an absolute bargain. On sale for $2399 regularly $3999. Recently I happened to speak with the order desk about a more modest item and I asked if any customers actually bought mega bucks capacitors. Answer was "Yes, not many but they do sell".

    what are you listening to?

Their first album had just come out and Peaceful, Easy Feeling was getting airplay. Not the style of music people going to that show wanted to hear. When The Eagles came on stage, whoever the front man was commented on the small number present and encouraged the paltry few in the audience to...

    what are you listening to?

I too have that Bull Angus LP. And saw them live. They were between the headliner, Cactus and the warmup band, The Eagles. There were maybe 20 people in the audience when The Eagles played but the place (smallish auditorium) filled up before Bull Angus came on.

PC sound card based distortion analyzers.

I knew McIntosh held clinics but did not know Marantz did something similar.

    Funny pictures...

Unless I'm confusing the Corvair with a different car, which is entirely possible, I thought the big gripe about them was a front impact issue. Drivers getting decapitated by the steering wheels.

    Hi from LaConner, wa

Around 1977 I began selling cars at a Renault, Fiat, Volvo dealership. It was advertised that police in LaConnor, WA were using Renault R5's - aka LeCar.

Owner of The Turntable Shop in North Vancouver passed away

A bit of an update. When I made that last visit, a notice was taped to the door. It was placed there by a former employee who had left several years ago. The notice contained an e-mail address created by that former employee for the benefit of anyone who, like myself, had left items there for...

    what are you listening to?

I ignored Styx, not my idea of rock music. Then "Come Sail Away", from that Grand Illusion album hit the radio and I detested that song. Therefore I not only ignored Styx, I hated them.

Owner of The Turntable Shop in North Vancouver passed away

The fellow’s name was Nick Sieflow. I learned of this yesterday. I engaged in numerous dealings with Nick, including buying a Thorens TD124 from him several years ago. But buyers remorse set in so I took it back to his shop in 2021 for consignment sale. As far as I knew it had not sold...

    Compressed AIR???

Two of my high school friends were brothers who's family owned a neighbourhood market across the street. I'd hang out there after dinner when one of them had to mind the store. Good old airplane glue was kept on the shelf until it's sale was prohibited. There were three 10 or 12 year old...
