I take a razor knife and slide between the ears all the way down then use Joe‘s idea to knock them out with a wood punch and a hamer while holding tone ear in a vase.. clean out all the old glue and the slide in the new 2n5088 with 5 minutes epox. Pinch the two mount tabs together in the vase...
