@mr_rye89: Definitely, those Polaroids are true chrome BASF tape. I remember when they came available in my local London Drugs store I bought a few boxes.

Some don't like the plainclothes look of the vintage NAD components - I know I didn't at first. But assemble them in a rack, like Jim will be doing and it looks the adage "walk softly and carry a big stick."

Random Rock Mix Tape
Not my own mix tape, but one which came with a cassette deck I bought last year.
The Toshiba SY-335 & SC-335 are a set I had gifted my X-father-in-law over 25 years ago and were given back to me - along with the rest of the stereo system - when he passed away in 2023 and...
Just purchased an unmolested NAD 6155 for $75 CAD. Will have the technician go through it, as it has the original belt set in it. It should arrive in about a week. This was NAD's best deck in 1985-1988 - even though it's a 2-head deck.

I demoed the Sansui G-33000 back in 2017 when Alex @A.N.T. visited Canada from the U.K.. The one pictured was for sale for $14,500 CAD at Innovative Audio and sold.

Yup- I had spied a few of the Pioneer SX-55XX receivers - black-faced European variants of the SX-series of 950, 1050 and 1250 and just didn't pull the trigger on a SX-5590, years ago. Of course, it has more than quadrupled in asking price since 2014.

I want to see this deck work for you, as it's certainly a survivor. Try acetone first then play an unused true chrome BASF cassette through the deck a few times.

The corrosion on parts of the tape transport is worrisome. I hope you can successfully clean it up. Did you play it through a system to hear how it does, as it has no headphone jack.

One of my cousins is Domenico Sacco and he currently lives on the opposite coast - the Ionian Sea in Crotone. During our vacation in 1972 he (Mimo) would take me to the marina to help him while he was working there. Loved every minute of it.

@vince666: I spoke to my mom about the family lineage - as we talk to each other every day and she still lives in her own home at age 93- about a 20 minute walk from my place. She is the only surviving sibling from my grandmother/father on the Colica side. There is the Sacco side from my dad's...
My parents were born and lived in Vibo Marina until they emigrated to Canada in the late 1950's.
My wife and I would love travel there once we retire. I spent a whole summer there (Vibo) in 1972 when our family and my uncle, aunt and cousin made the trip.
On our way from Canada to Italy, 1972...
