Most wire direct and bypass this rather useless switch...(like in the PL400 you just completed). Some mount the switch for decoration purposes but do not wire to it.

Federico, I would only use that transformer if you customer demanded really clean power... :-)

It appears to be a 20K, 1% resistor (2-0-0-2) and based on the size comparison to the adjacent TO-220 device appears to be ~2W size

They are often wound with very fine wire Jim. The heating-cooling cycles causes expansion and contraction that can lead to a coil wire opening. That seldom happens in large power motors because of large gauge wire, but sometimes occurs in fractional HP motors with delicate windings.

Is that the anti-skate mechanism for the arm? Isn't it a dust collector over time?
