    Parts left from WOPL builds

That’s why I only build the occasional amp as requested. I don’t do it to make money, I build because I enjoy the technical challenge and supporting people progress in their audio journey. I would not continue building if I had any form of financial pressure or time constraints. This is and...

Sharks off Brazil coast test positive for cocaine

Coming from a person that lives far from an ocean, it’s a little disturbing you know this fact…

    700 Series II Build

Final assembly completed and ready for shipping. Silver or Black knobs... supplying both sets for Kris to decide once received.

    700 Series II Build

Agree, even a good USB DAC does not come close to realizing the sonic qualities or potential of a WOPL. Garbage in, much louder garbage out… It works well for a first bench level test though.

    700 Series II Build

Meters calibrated, bias set to 0.350V and it's playing music on the bench. Just need the Black faceplate and this project is a wrap...

    700 Series II Build

RG316 coax terminated between RCA inputs and control board. Faceplate with Cylon meters all wired up and ready for output testing and meter calibration.

    phase linear 400

That sentiment will most likely only result in further frustration.

    phase linear 400

It’s interesting watching people go through this cycle with 40 year old equipment. If you want any duration of trouble free operation from this amp, replacing both the marginally assembled point to point sometimes soldered components and original control board is mandatory. Give the White Oak...

    LED board meter sensitivity switch

I can say the switch measures 5.75mm and a 6mm hole would work for mounting this switch (Eswitch-100DP3 T1B1M1 QEH).

    LED board meter sensitivity switch

Additional pictures showing meter sensitivity switch on a 400 chassis. This is the White Oak chassis with hole cut as delivered and I currently do not have a bare chassis to measure hole diameter.

    700 Series II Build

Initial power up testing completed without issue and all measured voltages as expected. Time to stab all the output drivers into place. The transformer is healthy at +/-105V DC rails and 12V AC Cylon meter supply. Control board supplies at +/- 15V DC.

    700 Series II Build

All non-control board wires terminated and ready for initial power up testing. AC and fuse holder wire terminationed with service loops to prevent stress on solder joints when inserting fuses.. Triac power switch installed between backplane boards.

    700 Series II Build

Made some progress over the past few days. Caring for elder parents is starting to take a toll on free time outside of the day job. Cylon LED meters fully assembled and cleaned. All remaining components thoroughly cleaned and mounted to mid-plate .

WOPL 700B Rebuild Left Channel Buzz

Depending on how you turn the amp on/off, you may want to consider a Triac power switch from Don or wattsabundant. The inrush current when turning these amps on can be quite high and eventually weld the contacts of the original switch. See any of my past 700 builds for examples, it’s placed...

WOPL 700B Rebuild Left Channel Buzz

Here is what the WO bus bar upgrade looks like installed.

WOPL 700B Rebuild Left Channel Buzz

Highly recommend you invest in the White Oak bus bar upgrade, or at least separate the ground wires by drilling additional holes in the copper bus bar. That mass of wires is not sufficiently soldered to the copper bus bar.

WOPL 700B Rebuild Left Channel Buzz

It would also help to clarify how you terminated the other end of all the GND connections at the DC protection board Phoenix connector. For example, you really should run separate grounds for each channel output back to the buss bar. It appears you added a Black wire to loop both together.
