We got some great additions to our parts supply !!!!!!!

After removal of the plastic RCA's here is what it will look like. A pair of RCA's will connect to the cleaned pads and they are set up in a triangle. The grounds are set up in front of the L/R Pads. Look at the farthest pad on the left. That's the right channel (blue wire marked R) and the...

We got some great additions to our parts supply !!!!!!!

When stripping the RCA's out of the preamp, just cut them out with a good pair of cutters. We don't want to damage anything from heating those pads up. Plus, they are junk. I was taught Non-Destructive Removal of components in school but it don't count when Grandma and great-grandma used more...

We got some great additions to our parts supply !!!!!!!

If you haven't had a C-1 open, here ya go. If you can see, there is 2 shit-tons of solder AND flux left on these boards from the 80's. Don't put too much solder on them when redoing. And, get the flux outta here...... Notice by the RCA jacks....... I have done the Bill D Recap, installed...

We got some great additions to our parts supply !!!!!!!

Great news for the Carver Preamp builders. The Aluminum plates we have been using for the C-1/C-11 in addition to the Bill D Mods have been pretty much sold and the supply has dried up. I bought the last 3 from the Carver Site and used them up quick. I was bitching about the lack of RCA plates...

    Model ONE Build - S/N 0014

I'm a retired kinda guy.... I can't afford one being on a fixed income. I'd have to sell all my gear and I can't do that. Starting over like I did 10 years ago is nearly unthinkable.

    Burned board

A bag of Eyelets for the through hole stuff and a trace foil kit, cut out the burned shit and mix up some epoxy and fill the hole where you cut out the burned shit. Hell, with a board to copy it's so easy a cave man could do it. We had a vacuum box to pull out the bubbles before putting them...

Sansui TU-717 coming back from Alignment

MAN!!!!! Mike did a killer job getting my Tuner dialed in. This morning I fired it up on my bench to let it run and wanted to see how it acted. Before I sent it to him, I had wire for the antenna strung, taped, rigged all over the place and the stations faded quickly, lost stereo lock, and I...

Another Phase Linear 3300 Series 2 Pre Amp

I have pots left over from installing remote volume kits and from amps I stripped and I soak/clean/lube them and bag em for future use. Old pots come in handy too and I tore a few apart to use the shaft so when you need to polish/paint knobs, the shaft holds the knob and the other end goes in...

Another Phase Linear 3300 Series 2 Pre Amp

The round 2 gang pots have an opening where the leads solder to the boards and sometimes have a small round hole on the side. It may be easier for you if you unsolder the 6 leads and service them on the bench. I have a few tools and tricks to get at them but just remove them clean/lube and then...

Another Phase Linear 3300 Series 2 Pre Amp

Good catch, I use the F100L (1/2 drop) and a touch of the FG-213 (fader grease) after cleaning with the D5/F5 sprays. There were so many D's and F's flying that I goofed up my numbers. I don't use the D100/D100L or any of the red stuff. You don't need to disassemble the pots. A good flush...

Sansui TU-717 coming back from Alignment

I think I sent it to him on like 21 July and it's on it's way back to me already so roughly a month. That's pretty short turnaround.

Another Phase Linear 3300 Series 2 Pre Amp

"Alps" If you just spray it with D5, your scratchy/cutout issues will be back. Even with F5 it will come back. I use a touch of D100L and a touch of Fader Grease (Deoxit) too. That will cure pot issues for years. That shit aint cheap though. I paid $40 for the D100L but the bottle lasted 6-8...
