    Difference between metal film resistors

How many times I did it when chasing some values, specially weird values like 11.5K :( Those I wrote are actually E12 (but 1% instead of 5%) plus I've added 9.1/91/910 which I dont even know if I'm gonna need ever. I dont even remember if I've seen 12 and 18 in Technics decks.

    Difference between metal film resistors

Almost 4 months later and some family problems that I needed to solve, I still didn't placed an order but I'll do over the weekend, decision is made. Have found relatively cheap Yageo MF0204 series, which are nice and small (0,4W is only 3,4mm or about 1/8"). Only need your opinion about a...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

I made a list of caps for a second 965. Wasn't 100% sure about some caps so I'll go for polarized for power supply (UPV, UPW, FM or FR), will choose some audio grade polarized for signal path and some bipolars (UES) where it's obvious a bipolar would fit better. I mean, how wrong I can do :)...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Hello guys! Had some family things to solve and 2 months later I'm back, finally. Anyway... Just found out that Nichicon have updated a homepage and one thing that is missing is a capacitor catalog by pictures. There was two ways to find a right capacitor, by series list and description and by...

What audio caps was your choice? Are you gonna replace some polarized with bipolars or direct replacements only, as originals?

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Well, in our ages thats the only thing we can compare.... ok, maybe speakers too. Just hope that we'll make some conclusion about which caps for what. Otherwise this discussion will become as same as all other out there Still no answers if 500mV in signal path can be cosidered as 0V

HUH? I bet those air conditioners sounds good

    How about a capacitor discussion?

It is maybe overkill even for 965, but for the price, it's nothing so why not. For myself, playing with electronics is "my five minutes". Somehow, when sitting with disassembled deck I'm totaly disconnected from the rest of the world and it feels sooooo good :) Addicted to electronics

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Not strange at allthat I couldn't find them. Was searching "polystyrene" Will see next month when I'm back to Sweden, who have everything I need, mouser or Digikey. Dont even know which values I need. Thinking, if I'm already there, why not to put them even in 555, 565 and 727. Just for fun.

    How about a capacitor discussion?

That's what I was thinking about. Idea can be good but the question is where to find them and if it is worth money, since they are not easy to find. Can't be cheap.

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Yes, polystirene it was and loading it was. Some of well known factories used them, I believe it was Nac. I've been adviced to put them in my 965, but have been warned to solder quickly which I always is, no mather what I'm soldering. Nobody wants overheated pads and solder joints. Thats why...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Somebody told me a long time ago, I'm not 100% sure but I think it was MICA, is best in a place of 1st cap in signal path, directly after a head. I believe a person said that Nakamichi is doing so (not sure about that either. Regarding Wima, there was discussion about which of them are best for...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Alex ANT have recommended those earlier, so quality is not questionable Another one for DIY when architecture of a pcb is not a problem.

Wima is probably suitable for DIY projects, but for recap... as you guys use to say: HUH?

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Seems that capacitors are kind a sci-fi story for itself. Most of us want to push our gear to the limits which in many cases can give a headache just regarding caps. I have recaped 3 of my decks, one of them 965 which have very big schematics. Replaced "some of" polarized by bipolars. Correctly...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

I was thinking, as Nakdoc said "An audio grade capacitor is designed to act more like a non-polar electrolytic in these situations", why go for bipolars in a signal path then? How I understand is, if cap is in a signal path, connected in series, where 0V presented, the one can go for bipolar...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

That said means leave it as it is? If there was polarized from beginning, replace it with polarized and stay on the safe side. Modern caps should not be worse than those used 30 years ago. I haven't placed an order yet but will go thru the list and make some changes, UFG instead of UES. Just...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

What do you consider 'classic' caps? WIMA is a premier provider of classic caps of many different types. I was meaning Aluminium Electroliytic :) Didnt knew that wima makes those, have seen/used only those plastic red square formed, FKM or FKS, but only once for some little project (couple...
