Imagine if we could go back to that time and buy some of these pearls brand new... and then drive thru 80's and buy some cassette decks and some tapes... no, forget a second part, there would be no enough space in a trunk. Seriously, I just love 50's to 80's. Everything was better than today...

    Impedance - what if...

I appreciate that you want to help find what is wrong with decks and I would be happy to find out but I don't think we gonna solve that mystery. It's about two RS-B965 that are modified. 6 transistors on the input are replaced with resistors (leaving transistor base disconnected). Otherwise than...

    Impedance - what if...

Seriously? You mean that input impedance can not be measured with DMM?

    Impedance - what if...

I've recently found out that identical two of my cassette decks have a infinite (?) impedance (DMM showing OL). I won't ask why, there have to be some reason, but wondering if that and which way affecting a functionality of a decks. Any ideas?

    How about a capacitor discussion?

I know what you mean and it was definitely where I didn't wanted this topoc to come. My observation was that there are the same type of capacitors all over ths deck, and I was wondering, how does it comes that (if) audio caps are used for everything. Never mind... Seems that: 1. It would be the...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Not sure if it's NFB, thus can't decide which type to use. Either would do a job, question is only how big difference it makes. One other interesting thing is that in a deck I'm working with, 965, almost all capacitors are s.c. Pureism which should be an audio capacitors, which is kind a b.s...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Yes, Rubicon have a lowest values, but the question is how god they are for audio equipment. At the other side, soneone said "it doesent matter which one you chose, all branded are bettet than those made 30-40 years ago.". Those Pana film are good, but in many (if not all) cases are huge. Will...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

OK guys, after reading some interesting stuff and schematics, now I understand the most of what I need for what I'm doing for the moment. Anyway... There is one other problem: seems that some of Nichicon UES are discontinued :cussing: 1. Any suggestions for a good bipolar for signal path? 2...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Guys, I know all of this is about how caps are acting/what function they have in a different situations and that is what confuses me. Somehow, I feel myself as a one of this two guys :)

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Not one A3, one page on A3 and then put them all together. My eyes are almost 50 yo, A4 wouldn't do a job :) Regarding capacitors, what you are saying is that in case as on the left side (A) its ok to put a bipolar, and polarized have to bi used only in a case as on the right side (B)? Of...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

I'm doing the same on A3 (thanx to a company I'm working for) PB is more or less a piece of a cake. REC too. Bias is unknown field for me on schematics (I know you're have a big eyes now). I know a little about what bias is doing but not enough. I understand V+/V- and know how to follow it on...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Hello Vince, Didn't wanted to bother you, I know you are up to something else. As you say, just to make it simpler. In a signal path: - Bipolars when in series and between two 0V - Standard or audio when grounded or/and where there is some (positive or negative) In power supply standard caps...

    How about a capacitor discussion?

Here is SM and how I have marked caps (pages 1 and 6), in the case that someone wants to give an opinion, just before I place an order. Laughing and screaming is strictly forbidden! :)

It was something like this I made now, but was looking way better. UKZ and UES are MUSE (WTF is MUSE?) UFG is fine gold (and maybe UKT and UKA are)
