I have repaired multiple amplifiers (not PL) with cracked traces like that. Very tough to track down with the odd readings and voltages.

OLD COLD joints are a problem, and not just for us old guys. Our equipment suffers too. Hope that removes your gremlins.

Or use a Carver C-1, it has dual outputs, some other preamps do as well. Of course a "Y" cable is just as effective.

Monitor your rail voltages while increasing the volume and see if they droop before swapping transformers.

The 7900 and 5900 Sansui are great sounding amps.

How much of the "Bill D" do you consider necessary? Mainly the caps I would assume. I've seen conflicting reports.

I have one I'm not using, would consider moving it along. No mods as of yet.

So, how would you rate in comparison the Carver C1 vs Rotel and R-11 combo? Always wondering if there is much appreciable difference above what I'm running (Shure V15-III - C1 - WOPL).

I was buyer. Kind of borderline of what I was willing to spend on another 700B project, but what the hell, they're getting harder to find. Yes, I will be needing a plexi for it. ;) Who has one to offer?
