Arm resonance - the anal way

Sure, but there is no consensus about, well, pretty much everything about HiFi. I have an arm and I want a new cartridge - as much as I enjoy the trial-and-error-method, it can get expensive in a hurry. I know I can change the effective mass/resonance frequency with a "classical" arm by "simply"...

I know WOPL Sniffer is a member here, but somehow I feel WOPL or WOPL-sniffer also has an other meaning. Please, enlighten me.

Linear trackers are on my mind as well, but we're not so far yet. Which one did you get?

Arm resonance - the anal way

Being anal about being anal - well done!!! This is another example of what we should not be requiered to think of - it should be included in manufacturer's specs. An arm suspended on a "string", with magnetic balance, should exclude it...please, don't get into "torsional-stiffness" of any kind...

Arm resonance - the anal way

OK, guys...here it goes! The goal of this thread is to choose a cartridge to match an arm from a complete newbie standpoint. To make things "easier", let's go with: - tonearm is SME 309 (thanks Bob Boyer) - looking at two cartidges; Ortofon 2M Black and audio-technica VM760SLC. I went with...

Hi mr_rye89, I'm not to be trusted even near bad audio equipment. It seems I'm not yet annoying enough to be spotted easily - that'll change. Thank you for the welcome. Borut

Torr is fine - I can't see myself ditching Celsius for Kelvin either. Other than that, I'm on the metric system...and so are The States - just saying. My knowledge/education/comprehension is nowhere near yours. I'm just the average Joe contemplating stuff I find intriguing - effective mass of a...

J!m, I'm aware that you are aware. In my neck of the woods vacuum in everyday use relates to pressure which is lower than atmospheric...which is, in a weather report, high or low. Torr?...fine, Blaise might be disappointed, but at least it's a correct unit - not like force, torque and what not...

Vince, sure I'm going slightly mad (I like the song) - with you yanking my balls. I have but one grey-cell, so the tasks it can/should perform must be chosen wisely, in an specific order and one at the time. A good one!...the Moon's atmosphere...although it still isn't a vacuum. Oh dear, I...

Jim, getting properly into weeds is a part of the problem. By digging deeper it turns out that you need a MIT degree just to prove that you don't. Go figure. My last attempt to clear VTF Earth/Moon... Let's say: - the green force is our balancing mass 1.25g x gravitational accelearation -...
