    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

I looked at the PDF you posted, Not sure which one I should use so until I figure that out, I'll just use my Bleeder setup if I need to discharge the bulk caps. The document said if all else fails, use a .1uf and a 100 ohm resistor (both of sufficient size), a QC100 and put it across the...

    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

Thanks for the link Don. I'll figure out the bleeder switch and resistors to keep from smoking the switch. I have a meter for monitoring the DC Offset so after the voltage drops when I turn off the amp, I can then switch the bleeder resistor on as long as the cap voltage is under 100VDC. These 2...

    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

That's what I like to see, very cool............. However, just like a processor being cooled on a PC, the fins are on the outside since you need the flat to fit against the heat generator, and the excess heat can radiate OUT to the environment so you can also cool that with a fan. So, I can...

    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

Yeah, we already went through the ghetto water heater elements and other cobbled stuff. When a customer comes over and you have shit cobbed all over your shop, it would embarrass the fuck out of me. Naw, not gonna rig stuff up although Since I'm wiring and experimenting with these DPDT 3...

    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

After freezing my ass off this winter, I'm mounting the fan on the back of this load bank and blowing the hot air on me. I'll have to build a "bench amp" to run continuously for heat.

All I got on the bench is Ice Tea Joe.......... Maybe I'll use the hole saw and make a drink warmer on the top.

    NAD 6300

Not concerned about a remote. I seen some "Accidental" button whacking and caused big damage to a set of speakers. I have one for the RL-11 but I don't use it very often.

    Billion Watt Load Bank Build

Made a bit of progress. Had to drill a shitload of holes and then tapped the holes and mounted the BAR's (Big Ass Resistors) but not before I got all that whale spooge all over. I hate that shit but I couldn't find my sheet of thermal material, so, Whale Spooge it is. I looked at my shelf from 3...

    NAD 6300

The 7600 is the biggest @150WPC The 7400 is 100WPC I'll set my alert for a 7600 but the nice one I saw was $700 with pick up only (Cali). When they reviewed it, they said it has: "1300 preamplifier, 4300 tuner, and 2600A power amplifier built into the receiver chassis. There is one on...

    NAD 6300

Does NAD make a receiver or amp or integrated with any kind of Power Out??

    NAD 6300

I like the looks of the NAD gear. If I was looking to build another system, I'd try them. They look fairly easy to do maint/repair on. Any threads on how they perform? I WONT tell you you have nice looking NAD's though. HUH???

I'll follow along. We'll see how compact the unit is going to be.

Too small for me too but I wouldn't mind building a small shop amp but after hearing how big the cooling scheme is going to be, I may look around for a mini amp.

    Pioneer RG-1 transistors

yep, if the transistors have black legs, get em out before the shennanigans begin. We have found that this black "corrosion" will eat the legs and it's usually where you CANT see when they have been eaten through.

Marantz Model 2325 - Getting the Treatment

Damn Jer, yer right, the back side of those boards are f-ed.............. I got a Sansewer AU-999 on the bench right now and it isn't quite as bad but almost. I used some left-over WOPL back plane solder cups (as Vias to hold down the pads) and repaired what I could. Friggin single sided...

Wyn is working on a new power amp...

So Jim, I read through what Wyn has posted on the PA project. Is the power out going to be to your liking (60WPC??). It would appear that the noise figures are very good. I see he had to slow you guys down for wanting to get a Power Supply fingered out and he didn't seem quite ready for that...
