Be sure to adjust the arm height (if available) when adding slip mats. I just use my felt mat to cover the rubber mat on the Pioneer, as its just a dust collector anyways. I always remove it prior to playing vinyl.

Yep, 901's gotta have that EQ. Likely the EQ needs a recap as well. You can run the EQ through a tape loop on an integrated unit. Proper set up will improve sound quality with 901's. I prefer the suspended set up as I find they sound best in the air.
