It's been burning in all day- Zenyatta Mondatta on loop all day. I checked the input to all inputs (including both tapes and "EPL" which I don't know what that is) but not Phono as the level will be too hot. But I did gran a Gary Mulligan LP at lunch today at Savers, so I was going to rig up...- J!m

NAD 1300 preamp upgrades
When I did my first preamp, I had a tape feed selector and an amp feed selector. Two rotary switches. You could feed LP to tape while listening to CD for example. I think the intent is to eliminate the possibility of creating a feedback loop.- J!m

This solder is easy to work with- fast on and off so most of the traces held up fine. On the Aragon, which I have yet to tackle, they use tungsten solder or something because the board will catch fire before it melts…- J!m

On the preamp? Monitor of tape 1 or 2 (for playback). Turn that off if you want another source (CD, Tuna, LP...) Other switch is for dubbing tape to tape. Pretty typical I thought, no?- J!m

Done except for putting the op amps in their sockets. Verified 32v on all sockets (+/- 16v) near the top of the range but good. I’ll button it up after I eat something. I had to do a few trace repairs on the last couple sockets. Overall pretty easy to work on. Board stayed in the box the whole...- J!m

Finally getting to this today. Power supply almost done- recap (all raised voltage) and lower voltage zeeners. Found one voltage regulator looking hot (well, the board did) and saw the pad had lifted and was basically floating all three legs there... Pulled that, cleaned, fluxed and...- J!m
