    Dick Burwen's Amplifier Problem

I think he ran his system very loud at times. Have you seen the picture of him standing inside his wall of speakers? His De-Noiser was probably a necessity in his system.

    Dick Burwen's Amplifier Problem

I bet Burwen increased the bias in an attempt to reduce distortion. Output transistors ran hotter (even with fans, temperatures inside the TO3 case are still very high. A friend of mine made a 5 watt true class A amplifier using a tunnel heatsink I found at an electronics junk store. The...

    Lounging…

I have a friend who has an almost empty bottle of Pappy (something, I forgot the whole name) Kentucky bourbon. Full, the bottle is worth $2,000. I suggested he fill it with cheap bourbon, becase, how many people know what expensive whiskey tastes like?

    Vinyl Collections.

I keep about 1/2" of space so the albums are easy to slide out. Most of the time I get rid of the poly covers - they are difficult to slide and in my opinion, could damage the cover. I've also begun to thin the collection.

Unfortunately It is Time To Report

I've seen some damages that were some how well intentioned, but the technician was unwilling to accept that the unit once worked in its original factory condition.

    PL 400 VU Meter?

The 400s that blew up usually blew up because 10 amp fuses were installed. My comment was an inside joke for those folks who repair.

Unfortunately It is Time To Report

Sam, just say "At least I am not as far behind as Nakdoc." The only way I'm going to get caught up is by retiring and closing the shop. I have a new "hobby" shop space in a friend's house and will be able to focus on cassettes only!

    Pioneer 909 Capstain motor

Sam is grumpy today! The simple stuff is often overlooked. Most amateurs believe the part that is bad is the part they least understand. I've always wondered why the motors last longer in Pioneer RT90x decks, and now I read the answer. I love these groups.

Sam, I'm going to have a place for my bench but will concentrate on Nakamichi exclusively for the next two years. The reapir units here will get finished and returned this summer. Last brick and mortar day is May 31.

    Carver TX-11?

The TX-11a is a DXing champion. Bobby's noise shaping circuits really do work. Once I received the Knoxville public radio FM station and I live in Nashville (with a dipole)!

Tascam 122 Mk. III Serviced by Sam at Skywave (Thanks Sam!)

Hey, I work in caves all the time! I've been a member of cave-research.org all my life. We map and support science in cave studies around the world. Mammoth Cave in KY is the world's longest cave at 413 miles. I've probably seen half of it. Working in caves is tremendous help on my workbench too.

    Fifty Years - That's Half A Century...

I remember how incredible LA Woman and Who's Next sounded on a good stereo. I think record quality and stereo quality sorta peaked at the same time. Class of 71 here. The list forgot Jefferson Starship Blows Against the Empire...what an album that was.

Center of my music universe in New Orleans 1970-73

Bloodrock was infamous for the song D.O.A. and managed to milk that novelty through 3 forgettable albums. They must have been great live judging from all the headliners they played.
