The Official Reel To Reel 'Porn" Thread

True. But I don't count that 996 among it. Although I love how it sounds, especially on my TASCAM 3030, it's an unstable tape. It doesn't have true SSS, but something-thought to be lube failure-that still cruds up the pathway and brings it to a halt on fast wind mode. My eventual goal is to...

    Teac X1000R Vs X2000R models

Sam has never been shy about openly voicing his dislike and disdain of both the X-2000R and the people who like them. That said, congrats on your find. And if you were smart, you'd take the worse one of the two, flip it on the bay where even broken, smashed, etc ones can get $500 or more. Say...

The Official Reel To Reel 'Porn" Thread

Nando: My silver X-2000R isn't even technically in service right now. Right now I only haul it out once every three or four months to run for a few minutes just to keep it in operational condition. I'd say that my usage right now is probably 60% the Akai, 35% the X-2000R(bl) and 5% the TASCAM...

Oil on the (downward slide) upward climb...

There is a 30 (thirty) ct pop expected in the unbranded West Coast Spot Markets sometime next week as the pricing cycle rolls into next month. I don't know what day yet, but definitely next week. This will definitely affect non branded prices such as Costco, Sams Club, the no-name "Lucky Joes"...

    Re Greetings.....Again

Recycling old pictures. The one above was taken today but these are older ones, which shouldn't matter since the layout and contents remain unchanged.

    A WOPL "Frankenstein"

Somebody please explain to me what a WOPL is.... I see those letters and keep thinking about the WOPR, from the movie "Wargames", which was that elephantine monstrosity of a computer.

    Everyone survive!?

Went over to a neighbors house where all of us plus some of their own friends and family were gathered. They had a ton of great food. We all socialized, played cards, etc. I had about three beers plus one Jell-O shot made with Fireball. Watched the ball drop in Times Square. I have not missed...

    10 inch Reels

Yeah I'm more into ten inchers myself. Love to handle and look at them and play them. I've amassed quite a collection of them. Seven inchers do very "little" for me. You ARE talking about reels, right?

    10 inch Reels

Old thread, but giving it a boost. I would not recommend any Sony branded tape, NOS or used. Of the four main flavors they had: PR-150, SLH, ULH, and FeCr, all are known, verified SSS offenders. Buy them for the large bulbous reels. But I would not recommend using the tape.
