    Resurrected a Customized WOPL 400

Great. Thanks. It'll be all together in an hour. Then I'm gonna just sit and look at it for a couple days and recheck and recheck everything I can. Then — the day of reckoning!

R1 and R2, no problem — out. But I'm only able to find one C9 cap. Are you saying there are two?

Thanks so much for the assistance. I'm getting close to putting the testers on the thing, performing adjustments, and seeing what I've ended up with.

Which components on the board are the Zobel? Do you know, or how do I figure it out? And the OUTS on the backplanes are now my + meter leads, correct? Thanks once more.

I need some clarification on a couple connections before I lock everything up. Because I have an early model, I'm unable to use the WO light board for the meters. The lighting leads are the same and have nothing to do with the WO components. But the meters are, therefore, wired differently. So —...

Hah. The vice tray is just a holding tank sort of arrangement. Of course, just a couple strategically drilled holes would allow it to drain. But all I do anymore is 'fun project' sort of stuff. The mill is CNC driven, but the equipment and computer stuff is so old I'm thinking of donating it to...

Getting closer and closer. Spent part of the day assembling the face plate and meters. Both Vu's tested good. However, when I got this amp, it had those dark, dark, smoked lenses that really don't even allow you to see the meter. I tried to find different lenses, even meters, with the clear...

    Vu Meters

    Thanks. Got it now.

Okay, I found the answer. It's right on the White Oak website. Off to do meters and face plate today. I'm also going to install the driver board, but as I was getting everything ready, I discovered I'd managed to lose two of the push-on transistor heat sinks. That's what happens when you have to...

    Vu Meters

Thanks for assistance. I'm not sure what the file you sent is. It looks like the location of a pdf file on your computer, but nothing happens when I click on it. If you have a pdf, I'd be grateful if you'd try to send it again.

Yeah, but it also required a resistor somewhere in the line — I think. I recall, maybe, that it was a 9 volt battery and a resistor and maybe some other component in the circuit. I'll keep looking.

Yeah, I know. I saw that thread a long time ago. But I can't find it now. I'll keep looking, but it doesn't come up under any searches.

Now I need to test the Vu meters before I put the faceplate together. Does anyone know how to test the meters out of circuit? I know there's a way to do it, I just can't remember.

    Vu Meters

I know I've read a post here about testing the analog Phase Linear Vu meters, but I can't find it now. Could someone please direct me to what I need to know? Thanks.

Nah, I'm having fun and learning a great deal. Additionally, I recently acquired a 700 Series II I'd like to WOPL. So this is a good first effort. Plus, I'm retired, so now I can have fun everyday — and this audio electronics world is great fun. I also have the 400 Series II and 3300 Series...

I'm getting ready to install the driver board tomorrow. However, I put this thing together last year, and it has been sitting on a shelf ever since. And I seem to remember that you and Joe both said there was either something missing or in the wrong place. I may have fixed it already, but I...

Yeah! I was so pleased that I took the rest of the day off and sat on the porch listening to my old 'Free' and 'Steppenwolf' records. Plus, it was 73º here today and I decided to spend some time just sitting and looking at the lake, drinking a couple beers, and thinking about getting that...

Okay. No sparks, pops, smoke, or sizzles. The dbt never came on and I ended up with a uniform 73 volts across all test points. But my Variac, for whatever reason, is calibrated in percentage of maximum volts, which is 140. I figured 90% was enough to make certain there were no shorts. On to the...

Okay, this is it for the night. And I apologize for taking up your time, but know that it is greatly appreciated. Therefore, I'm going to bug you guys once more. After all, this isn't the time to act with uncertainty, and some of this is counter-intuitive, or I've not understood how to wire...

Yeah, I get exactly what you're saying, I just don't understand how I missed that. I don't even know where my copy of the assembly instructions might be. But I'd love to figure out how I missed that. One problem is, I started this project a year ago. Then, here in Northern California, we had...
