    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

In comparing the two units, it looks as though all I have to do is cut the jumpers linking the front and back poles of the switch. Do you agree?

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Okay, I just pulled my other 3300 in here to the shop. I don't know who messed with the power switch on the unit I'm working on. It came to me that way. Clearly, I need to pull the whole thing loose and get it wired properly. When I did the build, I was using the schematic. I definitely wasn't...

Okay, I'll go in now and pop that top so I can take a look.

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Okay, just to get everything straight — I'm attaching Lou's original instructions for his board. His paper seems to indicate that 1 & 3 should be replaced by the leads from his board. Are you saying the board I have requires the resistors to remain in place?

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Okay, I think I'm confused. Are you saying that, along with the leads from the new board, the R-1 & R-3 resistors should have remained in place?

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Z102 A,B = B&B OPA2134PA. I'm going to have to go look up the pin outs to take any measurements on the other OPs.

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Okay, first test: yes, the headphone jack seems to be working, but the volume has to be turned up higher than I would have expected, well over half way up for just listening volume. So I'm getting headphone signal, but something still seems amiss. But the signal to the headphones sounds good...

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

I've been out of the country working for quite a while and, therefore, was unable to work on any of the projects I'd started before I left. However, I've been back for about a month now, and I immediately resurrected my 3300 project. I tried to bring it up today, of course, with a dim bulb...

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Pretty well finished with the top of the board. I still have to install Dennis' phono stage modification and change out the OP. Also need to permanently mount Perry's board, but I wanted to post a couple pictures and my components list, just in case one of you can spot a mistake. I'm posting the...

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

I thought about using the heat sink holes, but they didn't really line up with open spots on the bottom board. But the large open spot on your board, just coincidentally, lined up nicely and allowed for the single hole, without getting close to the traces. I don't think I've used RTV, unless...

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Spent the day mounting the board Perry got to me. I'd already installed the wiring when I was soldering in other parts on the board. I had some threaded 1" nylon stand-offs laying around, but there really isn't enough meat on the PL board in that area to allow for drilling without risking...

    PL 3300 Series II rebuild/upgrade

Wow! I just received a pair of boards from Perry. I guess I wasn't paying attention, because I thought I was just buying the empty PCBs. However, I opened the box and found fully populated boards ready to be installed. Great bargain. A hell of a contribution to the PL community. Many, many...

It probably wouldn't have made any difference to you, but I now realize I should have popped the cover off of my upgraded 3300 and taken a picture of Lou's board.

Wow, I'd love to get said kit from you. Just tell me what I owe for the material and shipping and I'll PayPal it off to you immediately. And you are correct, the soldering on perf boards always looks amateurish. It works, but it's kind of embarrassing.
