What is your favourite DAT unit? And Why?

Hi Nando, I had a stack of 8 of these machines years ago, to record live music. They were synchronized with an external controller. I sold them a few years ago for next to nothing. Cheers, Udo.

    Hello From Belgium

They were just too big for this room. I liked them thou. That was in feet aprox: 4x2x6.5 including the subs. and about 300KG per side. The system now is ( in Centimeters) 43x60x208 ( in feet about 1.5x2x6.3 isch) and about 200KG per side. Cheers, Udo.

    Hello From Belgium

Hello , Yes if you can "spare" a few feet , it makes a world of difference in frequency response in the low end. In studio's we get this as a full back wall and 1 to 2 meters deep filled with damping . So a real low frequency cutoff of below 20Hz is feasible. The Yellow Space on the plan is...

    Hello From Belgium

Thanks, Indeed the system now sounds super to my ears. There are some small reflections that bother me , but that's the "limit" of damping I can do right now as my wife says , this is not a studio but a music room. And she's right of course. When we rebuild the room, we ripped out the floor ,to...

    Hello From Belgium

When we rebuild the listening room , we integrated a large bass trap that doubles as a record cabinet. The room needs it to take the pressure generated Here included are my former speakers. Now in storage as I can not make myself sell them. Westlake. Under these were Double 18" subs also...

    Hello From Belgium

Hello , No ,but my wife does play drums/percussion and some bass guitar. Sometimes the room is stuffed with a drumkit... so wife acceptance in this case was not real an issue as she also uses the equipment to play bass guitar and sing ... Mostly when I'm not at home. haha. Cheers, Udo.

    Hello From Belgium

Hello , Short story here...i hope... About 30 years ago I did a setup for the Belgian studio in a "cave" in Aarschot, Belgium ( yes the thing was in the shape of a cave) I brought my first PL 400 to it to have a comparison to the HH amps if I recall correct. The owner was so impressed by it ...

    Hello From Belgium

Hello All, and thanks for that warm welcome. Just to answer a few questions: "Very interesting set of equipment in that rack, Udo. Aside from the PL boxes (which we are kinda familiar with here !), can you describe the other parts of your system? I'm not as familiar with the shelves above the...

    Hello From Belgium

Hello All, I have bought my first Phase Linear Amp about 35 years ago. It was a PL400 back then. My own system now has two 700B's driving subs and two 400 series II driving Low/mid-High of my custom designed speaker system . Its all driven by a BSS BLU800 processor. I'm an audio freak that...
