DSD digitized the Rickie Lee Jones Tape

Very nice setup! Are you using any kind of streamer to play from the computer back through the RME and then to your system? I ask as several of our friends and I were at Stratdoc's house last night for a listening party (which turned into a dance party as the night wore on) and before we got too crazy he remarked that the streamer really upped the sound quality. He's running an amazing system - Benchmark DAC, Benchmark LA4 and Benchmark amps to big Focal (Revel?) floorstanders. It's an amazing system.

I haven't thought to use a streamer between my DAC and system but he's got me wondering...

I do not stream. I buy a CD or tape occasionally and that's all. I wish that I could afford benchmark gear. :) I have ripped my 200 odd CDs to a disk and I can use my laptop to play them through my RME but I just use physical disks with my Rega Planet CD player (which might be sold off this week).

I have been meaning to rip my SACD collection to .iso files..once this is done, I will dedicate a raspberry pi and make my own streaming. I was disillusioned by streaming and I resorted to discovering music old fashion way..

Oh my God not Thiel. And what are those red boxes? Our new nuclear U235 WOPL power amplifiers? I now bow to you my friend.
Yes, these are thiels. Little ones (1.5) are practically new because they have all new set of drivers from the factory (Coherent source services), new cherry wood veneer, and original boxes. These are mostly 3ohm to 4.5ohm speakers. Old drivers are for backup..

Big ones are 3.6s and these are 2.2ohm to 3.8ohm mostly.

Red boxes contain Purifi 1ET7040SA modules with upgraded SMPS from Microaudio. I bought them from Buckeye Amps and got them custom painted. These also have extra 40kuF PS caps to increase the reserve for bus pumping issue. I experienced bus pumping when playing the track "When it's going wrong " by Tricky and Marta. BA sent additional reserve to mitigate..

At their current state, they can easily do 950W/2ohms.

Weird because I used them in HT playing Dune/Dune2 without sub and the Amps didn't sweat but that track used to push the Amps into protection mode..

That's been my method, along with relying on my oldest daughter to keep me apprised of all things musical in Texas. CDs, hi-res digital downloads are my primary source of new stuff, with the occasional piece of vinyl I buy.

Absofrickinlutely! All I have that Thiel made are a crappy set of CS 1.2' s that half ass work , tweeter problem. But when they did even those cheap broken down what most folks would throw away speakers sounded so good to me that I am convinced I have to have a nice set one day. Besides that, Jim has em.

I can bus pump on most Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Crystal Method.
...

I have Thiel 2.2s. I feel they are the sweet spot for performance:cost. And they are plentiful on the secondary market. Mine have an uncommon white oak finish.

I keep my eyes peeled for something further up the food chain but those whom have them are not parting with them.

You can find 3.6s from $1000 to $2000 depending on the condition. These sold for $5000 in 92 and that translates to $12k? at least today! Hard to beat imho for the going price. Cardioid speakers, Controlled directivity, advanced materials have progressed a lot but new ones will cost you at least $8k.

Even with all this technology, once you place the speakers in your room, most bets are off!

My friend is tempting me to sell 3.6s but will see. 1.5s is no slouch, they use Thiels best mid/tweeter combo that was used in CS7. 1.5s don't have authority below 40Hz owing to their size. However, subwoofers have improved so much . I use a Rythmik E15HP servo sub and I'm more than impressed for music and HT. If I sell the 3.6s, I will get one more E15HP because 2 subs is the only proper way to do things, imho! I have a 200sq.ft gable space and two 12 inch Rythmiks would've have served me well instead of two 15 inch.

I know this is nothing like, nothing nearly like what you have there but one of the most fun systems I have set up right now is a set of JBL 4312A's and. Klipsch SW-10 II sub and this is in a very small studio size room a very odd size of 8x15. Is it the best at accuracy? Absolutely not. Is it fun as hell oh yeah. That's just one old ass sub and two older ass JBLs and it kicks some ass.

Personally after seeing that White Oak Model One WOPL 700 I think it Class A (even if it not) is it class A/B or D?
