What's your 'table budget? I have a restored Kenwood KD-5070 surplus to my needs.
And the one I built, but that one's expensive...

im cheap ....
lololol
is that like adhd???

ferrite encrusted power cord??? well well...live and learn....im only glad i guessed right!!!...and got rid of the loop...lolololGene- if you haven't already, isolate the power cords from the signal cords. And any that may cross, do so at 90 degrees.
That's free noise reduction!
And, regarding ferrite cores: All the gear I've built gets a ferrite encrusted power cord. It's cheap insurance!
Hello Genewell...
i had an ac hum loop similar to feedback on one amp position...swapping amps did not move the problem...completely random timewise...tge source mafe no difference either...could not detect a cause...the hafler engineer from ebay suggested an induction loop...i had a bunch of ferrite chokes....put it on the ac power cords...solved it...ive ardered all new audio cabling....with 7 amps a 4x8 dsp and equalizer fm tuner and dac.....pretty messy back there....need to slide it out and reorganize cabling. .the power sequencers add another level of cable complexity...
but, i swear....it sounds great...even for these soon to be 75 ears!!!!
cant thank the group enough for the support and encouragement....
i love each and every one of you!!!!
Hello Gene
I am glad you got rid of your 60 Hz hum problem but I doubt that a ferrite bead had anything to do with it. Ferrite beads on cables are used to suppress MHz frequency signals, usually to keep noise from the equipment from conducting RF emissions down the line cord, they’re essentially invisible at 60 Hz, and thus don't block the root cause of hum I suspect something else you did while experimenting fixed your 60 Hz hum issue.
thank you...noted...My main rig was vertically stacked and all power went down one side in the back and all signal cables went down the other.
I did have them bundled with Velcro or zip ties.
Where you at? Earthquakes near you?i have soooo enjoyed my time machines!!!
again...i appreciate the support and advice!!!
guanacaste costa rica...and with 200 avtive volcanos (most minor) earthquakes are freqjuent...Where you at? Earthquakes near you?
