Black Sabbath is back. One Last Time...

I hope he (Ozzy) jacks up on healthy boosters & plasma treatments. I want to see him do-it-right and not come off like so many other has-beens; i.e. McCartney should have hung it up several years ago..

Watched the 'One Last Time' Sabbath section on YT. It was cool to see Bill Ward back where he belongs, Ozzy doing what he does best - even sitting down the entire time & seeing the entire band making a go of it -- but the set was too short...

Wasn't aware of this part:

"Profits will be shared between three charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham children’s hospital and the Birmingham-based Acorns children’s hospice."

So that's cool!

To me Black Sabbath left the room in 1978.The door should have been locked behind them.

Tony Iommi is rated as one of the best guitarist that has walked the planet and pretty much invented heavy metal, they have also hosted Ozzy, Dio and Ian Gillan which were singers with some of the best voices in the rock world. Why would you shut the door on that???? Just because they fired a dope addict/unreliable yo-yo, why would you write the other guys off???? Granted, some of the other albums weren't as successful as Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, etc.... but I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. The last fan to do that shot Dime Bag in the head. WTF????? Besides, you still got Taylor Swift (You can have her)..... Now THAT door can be nailed shut.

I saw Black Sabbath play at the California Jam on April 6, 1974. Tony's guitar sounded like 1000 chainsaws on overdrive but the music was so clear, I can still remember the band playing together like a well-oiled machine under Ozzy's maniacal leadership. Tony Iommi was the primary composer and sole continuous member during the band's existence for over five decades.

Sound Tech's can fuck up a concert and the venue affects the sound too. I just saw Metallica and Zakk/Pantera and it was the worst concert I have EVER heard. The new stadium here in Mpls suxx for sound. I'll never go back... And again, no baby going out with the water...........

Ontario Motor Speedway was a great outdoor venue and Tycobrahe Sound did an outstanding job with the sound system including use of the Eventide Clockwork 859-second digital time delay between the front and rear speaker arrays. "54,000 watts of audio power... 105 dB SPL at one mile... 200,000 satisfied rock fans..."

Back when I was touring (My Pic below), I did everything personally.

I bought Born Again when it came out.Wasn't for me.Same with Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. If I recall the recordings sounded bad not to mention the content.Perhaps my comment was a bit selfish on my part but I wanted to continue to love Sabbath but they changed and I couldn't get on board.Nowadays I don't listen to them (or a lot of classic rock) anymore but doesn't diminish the high regard I hold the Ozzy Sabbath.

Since the convo has sorta flipped in a better direction; I'll join in -

I am a Ozzy period fan, but I like only a handful of tracks after that. Reason being: Iommi

During the Dio years, I liked a couple of songs and simply had to train my brain to ignore the Dio shrill, because it was 'a thing' of the 80's for a lot of bands, so you sorta get conditioned or use to it. The song "Mob Rules" I still crank today; it's a hair raiser for me. The live version sounds really good too and demonstrates some talented, sound board work.

That said, even the last two Sabbath albums with Ozzy lost that certain something, that dominates all the other ones. Some killer tracks on 'Technical Ecstasy' and 'Never Say Die' but not anywhere nears all of them...

The live, reunion 'Last Supper' album is really good too - as a side note.

Jumping to a fairly obscure Sabbath album that is really more like an Iommi solo release -
This blues number still holds water for me completely; purely on the cohesiveness of the playing by the musicians, Glenn Hughes who I respect the hell-out-of
(Black Country Communion)

and again - Iommi's guitar work -

And to echo the same response, I thought 'Born Again' was utter trash & they should have completely renamed the band since it sounded nothing like Sabbath or DP.

Loved Ian Gillian and Born Again. Wicked Album cover as you could possibly get. C.C. would have been proud to have had that one. Deep Purple, yeah. Ian there too. Awesome.

You know one more thing. As far as that Born Again album goes I think that is a love or hate thing. Either you love it, or you hate it. I recall reading that Ian and Tony both disliked the album. HA! They are the ones who made it! Not only that, Ian was never in the studio at the same time as the rest of the guys. He literally camped outside the manor in a tent the whole time as they recorded the album. The whole thing, them getting together, them calling it a Sabbath album, Ian joining Sabbath, crashing cars, place was haunted, album cover that was straight outta hell, wild man!
