Not just the patina but the original nicotine glaze is still there under the platter...... I might outta polish the rim of the platter though. I will find something to cover the old tonearm hole. The chrome plating is mostly gone from the knob. I also had to disable the anti skate as the string is too short, the damn thing was gonna crash into the arm tube.....

If you check the charts, increasing arm length very quickly (and significantly) drops tracking distortion. The 9" arm is not great. And the fancier ones worked to distract us from the fact that... size does matter.

No free lunch: longer length comes at a higher effective mass penalty. Now that it's the 21st century I wanted to throw some technology at the problem, and I think I have devised something novel and effective. Just no time to construct it...

Yep longer length = more mass. I have one of those Sumiko type magnesium headshells with the adjustable azimuth but it weighs 12 grams by itself. I may still try it but the AT3600 still acts like a high compliance cartridge despite its high-ish tracking force.

If you do get around to building that arm I'm willing to beta test it:cool:
