THe 4th cap is mounted on the inside of the side wall. The aluminum front plate has an insulation layer applied to it. You may be on to something there. The unit is in near mint condition, perhaps it was used as a disco unit.. lol

I have a Chan's Audio AD 1865R R2R w/JM5532 opamps to sometime swap into my system for comparison. I'll be curious...
