The original box looked a little off to me.. Its markings were for a D-500 not a Dual 500 and the magic marker serial number looked too new. It looked like some body just recently wrote the serial number on it. While the rest of the box graphics were well worn.. It all seemed kinda off to me...

The amp/board in FredR's picture.. Did that come out of a clean room or something? Never seen one that clean.

Thanks OldPhaser for splaining the details for replacing the caps (such as the 100uf/6.3V ) and and what it does for the lower frequency response of the amp. Of course i am applying this to the D and Dual 500's, so the numbers are a little different. Learn something new everyday.

Moer, have you ever rebuilt the PL D-500 or the Dual 500? I would like to see your ideas on modifications, if you have upgraded one of these.

Sorry to cut in, but once I saw the pictures of the dual mode LED display, I just had to comment, I also like the bar-mode display setup. Makes me want to try it on my D-500. I wonder if it's possible to modify the current D-500's setup similar to the 700 boards from Joe. ?? I guess anything...

No problemo, it was in such good shape it would be a shame for me to just buy it and gut it for parts. Actually I wanted one of you guys, who restores the 700's to get it. It did seem like a good price. But, please keep me in mind if you have a spare back plate. Also what do the black back...

Ah-ha that is good news. Now I will have to get looking. There is a 700 series on Ebay now for 250.00 , parts or repair. If I were to buy that amp, I would most likely try to fix it and not actually use it for parts. So the best I could do is just keep looking.

Nothings ever easy, is it? Have to stop and shop at some of the silkscreen shops in town tomorrow. I was thinking about laser etching also. Most likely more expensive. To bad I'm retired, we had all these shops out there on the base.
