Also, the power cord and plug are original that's one of the things I'm going to replace. I want to go to the polarized plug once I figure out the best way to connect it unless a grounded plug would be better?

Nothing right now it's sitting on my bar with nothing around it. I have a Mitsubishi DA-P30 that I will put it with if it's fixed.

It is unwise to put a grounded plug on a two prong PL. Without a bunch of work on the inside first.

I read in Phases service manual about the RFI and adding the 4 .01/1000v mylar or ceramic caps to the rectifier. Any chance that could be the issue

Possibly, that's what we do around here when we rebuild em. Put on 4 .o1uf at 400 volt, self healing polypropylene. One between each two posts.

yes connected to the preamp or not connected. It was louder not connected to the preamp but still there and the left channel is slightly louder than the right. Noticeable but not drastic

I can pick some up and try it tomorrow. It won't hurt and their cheap. Can you think of anything else short of more testing equipment. Maybe a ground problem?
