Ken Nelson's Phase Linear 3300 ser II Pre-amp

To thpose of you who have attempted to fix a 3300, the trace between R7 and ground IS SUPPOSED TO BE CUT, JESUS!!!!! Here I thought it was another case of the 3300's sorry ass traces giving up the ghost. Well live and learn. The AP is warming up./...

You probably ripped everything out trying to find it too. :-(

Well of course. I finally just left my mini grabber neg on ground and started pokin around. I knew R7 was tied to ground through C10, but it wasn't acting like it, so I started down that road, didn't take long after that.

sHOULD i STILL BYPASS THE POWER SUPPLY PINS WITH THE .047UF POLY CAP ON ALL 4 OP AMPS.?

Update, Vee1, Vcc1 =/- 18.58 volts DC. Vee2,3,4-Vcc2,3,4 = +/- 15.64 volt DC.

I can do it. Got the room, got the caps, got the motivation, Between pins 4 and 8 on the back...

What better way to check the Phono section than the Phase Linear FACTORY RIAA curve tracer. The actual unit used in the test department at the factory.

Damn dude - didn't know you scored that. You must give us more details of its capabilities. Too fc#king cool.

First impression, F*&^%$ quiet , like no background noise. It tested at 153MICRO volts on the left and 173 Microvolts on the right. If Jani did the A/B test between it and my Spec 1 , I don't know if I could tell the difference, and that's saying something.
Thanks Joe, your guidance created an even better pre than I could have, appreciate that. I'm sure Ken will too.

Kenny you're gonna love this..

Cool - what was dragging the voltage down? We must know! :?:

Yes, I'm sure I will. Yes and I thank Joe too. I love my little Lickety Split and I have no doubt with this pre everythings gonna be even better.

The PL 3300 Series II preamplifier is going to be nice to use, Ken. For someone who has a full compliment of Phase Linear gear it goes without saying that it belongs in the stereo rack.

Lee: Another informative build and that Phase Linear RIAA Curve Tracer is a unique piece of test equipment. Most test equipment doesn't look as good as the component it is meant to test!

Amen Nando. I was told that curve tracer was built in house at Phase.
