I love the soundstage on this album. Lee Morgan was 23 years old on this album, he and his trumpet own the left side of the stage, and Wayne Shorter on Sax owns the Right-hand side of the stage, and the interplay between them throughout the album are amazing.
Blakey on drums and Jymie Merrit on Bass are right of center, and Pianist Bobby Timmons is center stage.
It is a very well-engineered and recorded album. Another recording to be enjoyed through the WOPL’d 700b !

do picture discs sound as good as their counterparts (regular black LP's)????
I don't have many picture records, but of the ones I do have, their counterparts in regular vinyl do sound better, as the coloured ones tend to sound a bit distorted. It may be dependent on the stylus and cartridge used.

My Blizzard of Ozz picture disc sounds good, Thriller picture disc is noisy, Metalheads picture disc is really noisy, Primus Desaturating Seven clear/swirls has quiet backgrounds. My CCR Greatest Hits green marbled Wal-Mart exclusive discs sound exactly like my original CCR Greatest Hits set. It's a toss up for me....
