Go see the RT-707 one...it's a remix of Floyd's Breathe :)

Seriously, use that camcorder for adult if you ever go that direction :laughing1:

Wow, Dennis - did the Teac X-1000R come complete with everything shown in your pictures?

Yes it did.
Wasn't even looking for one but it popped up in my weekly Otari/Teac search.
Was too good a deal to pass up.
I was just looking for a 10 1/2 deck.
Of course it needs a belt but the heads are in excellent shape.

At least with it being a Teac there's a reasonable supply of parts still available for those older models. Heads are the #1 issue to be considered as belts are common to find. Are you having it tuned after the belt change or calibrated for a particular tape?

I will have John at N W Audio check it out after I do the belt and grease job.
Thinking about having it set up for LPR 35, seems to be a good match for the Teacs.
Always a good idea with the X series to have the arm tension looked at.

I own a Philips/Aristona N4504 (or EW5504 under the Aristona rebadge), and an Akai GX-4400D. I really want a tape deck that can accept 10.1" reels though... I am reely :)rabbit:) wanting either a Philips N4450, or a N4520.
Saving money is a hard thing for me though. And not to mention the price of most 10.1" reels... It's an expensive hobby for sure :sad8:

I currently own 3, 2 in need of work and one "semi" working.

The only one connected is my Teac A-4300sx, I say semi working because I think in a moment of uneducated stupidity I screwed up the recording function. Was unfamiliar with how to properly test for Sticky shed reels and upon getting a box of Sony PR series blanks I think I gummed up the erase & record heads to the point of needing replacement. A hard lesson to learn but thats the way it is sometimes.
But, it stills plays like a champ so it by no means is a total loss.

The other 2 Reel to Reels are in the repair pile, a Akai X-150D and a Sony TC-355.

Listed here, overall condition?

I've got two 2340's but somebody here or on TH really should get a great deck.

Work too much

Hi Retro,
Fear not, I have never had a head with sticky tape on it that could not be cleaned off. I have had heads that were in a basement for a year with dirt on them and that corroded into the gaps to where they needed to be replaced. This was a Tascam 38 though.
Use lacquer thinner and finish up with Nu Finish and they should be like new. Unless they are worn out and that was not this tapes fault.
