Just acquired this reel player on trade for some minor work on a Marantz 2226
This thing still has that plastic film on the silkscreen over the controls....
I found the drive motor and 2 rollers seized from no lube / lack of use ....
Stripped the motor apart , a little lube and we are in business !
I have the service manual off hifi engine but does anyone have a owner/ operator manual ?

It lights up and the drive mechanism seems to work now but I don't have any tape or reels either!
I found some groovy looking nock off reels from Ali express ...
If nothing else its gonna' look good sitting there !

Damn, those look similar to the AKAI reels I have for the 707 I don’t have anymore...

I got them for $34.61 Canadian + $4.09 shipping...

The eBay link is 21.75 USD + 29.75 shipping !

I did the math and the slow boat direct from the "Cheena Corperation" is about 20 Canadain bucks cheaper .... ;)

I got a good deal on it but basically I wanted it (along with the Sansui cassette deck) to cap off my 2 channel system. They won't get a whole lotta use but I will use them a bit. I am getting ready to tear apart my system and put it back together on the other side of the family room. Guess I need to get motivated.
