Here is a picture of a factory fully complementary PL400 from a customer in Australia. It appears to be made in 1983, the last year of the Phase Linear name before they became purely automotive components. This was during the time they were owned by Jensen, which began in 1982.
I am assuming that the fully comp amplifiers were only made under Jensen engineering direction from 1982-1983 because the price of PNP transistors had finally come down to the point where they were about the same as NPN transistors, but I have no reference for that, just a guess.

Anyway, has anyone seen a serial number on a PL400 higher than 4A-32199?

Mark C, there is a sticker, but I cannot read it from the customer's photograph:

Pretty sure this is a Jensen era PL amp.

Oh, the "181" sticker is probably just an inventory sticker from the vendor, not Phase Linear/Jensen.
