I'm wondering if I've damaged the voice coil in my Paradigm Monitor Sub 8 subwoofer? It uses an 8inch driver with a high wattage amp. Goes down to 20hz for an 8inch. That said on some songs with kick drums or what have you, I'm getting popping sounds coming from the sub. It doesn't do it with all music, but just some. Volume on the amp in the sub is set very low, so I can't see how I would have over driven it. Its annoying though, as it sounds crappy when bass hits. My B&W 804 Matrix speakers don't make this noise when playing on their own, but those speakers have really weak bass to begin with. The sub is still under warranty, so I'm thinking of taking it in. But just wanted to check in here first if I may be correct in my assumption on the speaker.

Voice coil bottoming out? If it's not sustained, they can usually take a couple of "hits".

EDIT: Got a 30hz tone you can run?

Could be, but its not that loud. The sub is just being used to fill in the low end, not boom in the room. Really it shouldn't be doing it at this volume level. I was playing Sting's- Soul Cages on one of the middle tracks when it was doing this.
