Thank you for this, I had no idea stereo began so early. I was thinking approximately the mid 50s based on the mono gear and single large Altec Lansing furniture grade cabinets I see from time to time on the Detroit Craigslist. Going to show this to my father who lived those years.
Great article! I hadn't seen it in forever and I watched it on Laser Disc last night. Definitely stereo, lots of dynamic range, spooky high fidelity for 1940. Even heard the drums and double bass on my subwoofer.
