I'm very curious about any tech item

Joe ,
I know that 5 uF is not a standard value ,
but all the bords of PL 4000 use both 4,7 and 5 uF ,as described exactly in the service manual .
I realized this fact when I recapped all boards in 2 PL 4000 units .
Also PL 1000 has the same caps .
For me it's very strange and infact I replaced 5uF caps with 4,7 uF .
Ciao

They used whatever they had Marco

The PL config control was not very strict.

No Lee ,
I'm referring to pl 400 C board on PL 400 .
The schematic is clear : input - cap - Q1 base .
I can't verify anything because my father's PL 400 has pl 14 a/b board .
Probably it's a mistake , but .....

Lee ,
no problem : it's a normal mismatch .
Anyway I can't understand the input circuit of PL 700
( it has two imputs and a switch for normal / dc coupling ,
while PL 700b has only a switch that shorts a cap )
and the circuit of volume pot in PL 4000 .
In these cases there are not inconsistencies with diagrams .
Ciao
Marco
