hello, all!
i am an ex-TH member, "MacGyver" during my tenure there.
some here might already know that i am a serious PIONEER brand
enthusiast, with a specific interest in the firm's late-eighties products.
i am also a serious Anime/Manga fan (Japanese Animation/Comics)
an "Otaku" as the popular modern Fan-tag goes.
i started out in Hi-Fi around 1999/2000, inheriting my father's system,
a simple, low-budget affair, consisting of;
NIKKO 5055 STEREO RECEIVER (197?)

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll31 ... 29-087.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"
a couple years later, i added my first CD player to the system,
picked it up, with remote, for $2.00 at a yard sale;
TECHNICS SL-MC3 60+1 DISC CHANGER (1998)
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll31 ... SL-MC3.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"
i used that system extensively, making MANY mixtapes for my
father, who was a long-haul truck driver under the employ
of C.R. ENGLAND AND SONS at the time.
i started to take a serious liking to that low-end PIONEER cassette deck,
as i started to realize that i rather liked the PIONEER brand.
i liked the logo, i liked the design, and when i started looking into
what they have produced over the last 40 years, i started to like
everything about them.
pretty soon, i began to build a dream-list of personal favorite
PIONEER components that i'd like to build a complete Hi-Fi system out of.
it took several years, and many EBAY deals to complete,
but today i have what pretty much amounts to that dream system
in it's entirety;

finally, all that taping for my father left me with a lot of experience
in the usage of the compact cassette, as well as a lingering sentimentality
to the format. i joined up at TH in 2007ish, and from there, i learned
of just how much of an artform the compact cassette actually was.
i learned of how much art there actually was in the massive variety
of audio cassette blanks that all the many cassette blank mfrs.
produced all throughout the 25-odd years of the compact cassette's
heyday of dominance in the consumer audio market.
i suddenly found myself a collector, lusting after the TDK MA-XG
and so many more of the great designs marketed in those two+ decades.
in sum, as you might guess, i've a cassette blank collection.
it's not a big one, but it includes some of the best TYPE-IIs
made by some of the major mfrs. as well as a smattering
of TYPE-IVs, a single example each of both of the 1985 and 1990 versions
of the legendary TDK MA-XG among them;
