Since my beloved Onyx CD-2 decided to quit working and, the cheapo BluRay player I bought to be able to play CDs recently quit working as well. I saw this DVD-R deck on CL http://tucson.craigslist.org/ele/5178212629.html

I'm wondering if it will record audio CD-R's, if so it might be worth spending the money on it...it's been on CL for awhile, so I'll offer him $32.

Is there any reason a DVD recorder could not function as a CD recorder? Thanks friends :toothy5:

Stu,

DVD recorders are meant for recording video. They do not record to CD-Rs as you'd like. You need a dedicated CD recorder which records to CD-Audio discs. That said you are probably better off getting a dedicated A/D converter, putting your music into that, and recording the digital signal into your computer. Then you can burn CD-R discs.
