Here's a thread dedicated to Dual turntables. Yesterday, I bought a Dual 701 from my friend, Keith - from whom I've purchased a bunch of vintage audio gear in the past year. He offered me his Dual 701 and a bunch of his records for $200 and I didn't need to spend time to consider the offer. I will be bringing the 701 to the technician for a servicing sometime this month.

Any of you Dual fans own a 1218 ? That was my first TT back in '75.

I no longer have it, but have the original OM, a review reprint and an original product brochure. Also have the stack spindle out of the 1218.

PM me if you want it ... pay for shipping.

The 7 series is direct drive, correct? I had a 5 series (belt drive) and loved it. So did a friend who gave me near-to new money for it when we moved back from North Alabama. Dual made good stuff always, I just waited until they added belt-drives to their lineup.

Yes, the 701 is a direct drive turntable.

There are plenty of quality records in the box I got along with the Dual 701 turntable. Originally, Keith was going to hold onto one turntable (Dual 701) and the box of records shown, but with his tinnitus and slight hand tremors from the brain surgery he felt it was time to let go. Previous to this, I had received a major part of his record collection and most of it in quadraphonic format.

Whoooa - that's really cool. Did not realize the bulk of the collection was quad. That makes for some excellent vintage listening. I think he knows it's going to a good home.

Sorry to hear of Keith's tremors. We have a friend who's had a couple of surgeries trying to help a disease (not Parkinson's) that manifests itrself with serious tremors as he ages. The second one has done more to improve his situation so there's hope.

Dual 604

I owned this Dual 604 for a short time and swapped it for some other vintage gear I was interested in at my local record & stereo store (long since closed).
