Chrome Tape

I just received a prerecorded tape that is marked BASF Chrome Super play on normal position for best sound quality.
Why would it say that if it is a Type II tape?

It is their intention to have you play the tape with 120 uSec equalization which would give the tape a boost in the high frequency area.
