Broken beyond repair but highly affable
It's sad and ironic but OFFICIAL:

BLACKSTAR IS DAVID BOWIE'S FIRST NUMBER ONE ALBUM

It debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart this week, with 181,000 equivalent album sales in the US, with 174,000 sales alone being 'pure album' sales, i.e. purchase of the album as one unit instead of in parts.

Selling like hotcakes, and the prices are outrageous- especially the clear vinyl version.

Also ironic is that when Bowie arrived, the music industry was being saved by the young and recently departed, and now...

Bowie saved the industry so many times while he was living, forcing it to move forward and be progressive, so it is probably no surprise.

They have this wonderful, earthy woman named Adele now. She may not have as impactful a career as he did but it's always so nice to watch the young lions roar.

Cruizin' thru the 'Bay I see that they're reissuing his catalog on 180g vinyl. Was this in the works before his death or is the record company making use of his demise as a profit engine?

To my shame, I have only one Bowie album- and that's Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" narrated by Ziggy himself, pressed on transparent green vinyl.

Rolling through the Walmart today I decided to visit their CD section to see if Blackstar was in stock (even though I want vinyl). Walmart's CD selection is dismal! One 5' x 12' rack, and not even filled to capacity. Either iTunes killed the CD or everyone's got BitTorrent and hijacks everything.

I have the Barnes & Noble clear vinyl set, was picked up for me the first day it was out. In retrospect I should have bought more but I was not even looking for a copy, it was a gift

I am keeping it sealed. I might buy the CD at some point

I didn't see "Blackstar" at our Walmart, but London Drugs had one copy on CD. I bought it and sent it to my youngest son who lives in Montreal. I ordered another CD for myself. It should be arriving soon.

Nando.
