Altec Lansing 9440A amplifier

Ha anyone ever seen or had experience with one of these? This guy has several for sale, and the specs (400 X 2) look very respectable. I've never seen one before, as i am sure it is a pro amp, and probably used primarily in theatres and concert venues in its' day.

Just thought it would be interesting to hear you thoughts on this. Looks pretty awesome to me!!!

Take a look at all the sellers other items too. Lots of pro gear, including lots of Altec Speakers and tape decks and all kinds of stuff. I could create a wish list from this hoard..

Those big Altec amps are choice!! I knew a nightclub in Houston that used 4 of them, I remember those cool meters, the sound for a bar was very nice, IIRC two were for the big bass cabs, one for the mid horns and one for the tweeters that hung from the ceiling :shock:

They were in use for years nightly, tough brutes. the ones the seller has are a bit pricey, but they have been refurbed. I doubt any of us could blow one up :twisted:
