How can you get 400w/channel from something that runs on eight “D” cells?
Class D device, I have two (similar) ones that I play with, an eight cell battery holder with car speakers for yard work.
Seriously? 400 watts? Not possible…

My first auto power amp was a Sanyo true 15 w/channel, circa 1978. Was plenty loud. Way better than any of the 200 to 400 advertised ones I've heard.

May be only during a transient? Much like a diode can withstand many amperes of current for a millisecond or less.
