These reels will be for your Akai M8 deck? Or, are they 7" reels? Let us know when the tube deck arrives.

Even better. Is the Akai M8 ready to play and record right out of the box? Innovative Audio had a bunch of sealed 7" and 10" Scotch open reel tapes, I missed out on before the holidays. I doubt there would be any left, now.

Old thread, but giving it a boost. I would not recommend any Sony branded tape, NOS or used. Of the four main flavors they had: PR-150, SLH, ULH, and FeCr, all are known, verified SSS offenders. Buy them for the large bulbous reels. But I would not recommend using the tape.

Yeah I'm more into ten inchers myself. Love to handle and look at them and play them. I've amassed quite a collection of them.

Seven inchers do very "little" for me.

You ARE talking about reels, right?
