Phase Linear 4000 series 2 owners manual needed

Can anyone point me in the direction of one? The service manuals are plentiful enough but not the OM. I`d like to read up on some of the more unusual features of this preamp. TIA :)

    PL-400 series ii issue

Hi All, I just picked up one of these hopefully to mate with my 700s2. Its in really nice original, unmolested condition. No issues with the left channel but the right channel will intermitantly flat line, under an 8 ohm load. It will run up to 49 volts before clipping but then go dead. An...

PL prices getting a little silly

    $7 500 for a 700, $20 000 for a D-500, WTF...

PL 700 Series ii power switch

Hi All, The power switch in my 700 series ii has shorted closed :( Is this a common issue? A cursory search turned up a few replacement options for the 700B but nothing for the series ii. Am I SOL?

PL 400 series II in BC heads-up

This might be a good opportunity for BC members. Looks to be in nice shape and the price is decent. https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649769929-phase-linear-400-series-2/

    D-500

I cant say I`ve ever heard of one but after seeing this ad, it seems like it`s the holy grail of amplifiers! Are these amps that sought after? Asking price of $4300, $2000 spent in parts alone, I think not. What parts could possibly cost that much...

    Amp heats up

Hi All, I came a across a QSC MX1500 that seems to be working ok but the left channel heats up. Would this be a biasing issue? Where would the testing points be? I could use the good channel as a reference. thx

    Too much capacitor?

I have a chance at a couple of these caps for a really good price and was wondering if its too much cap fro my 700sII. Would that necessitate a bridge upgrade too? Dimensions are 4.75x2.5

    Shielded input cables, grounding scheme.

So I put the newly WOPL`d 700 series II into the main system today and was quite pleasantly surprised at what I heard. This thing sounds real nice, gratifyingly detailed and smooth presentation with seemingly endless power and a killer bottom end, that aspect was kind of expected. I do however...

    rev E board B+B- question

I have conflicting information regarding the power supply routing to the two channels: Is B+ and B- only applied to the left side board 11L and 12Lor must B+ and B- be supplied to terminals 11r and 12r too? I ran the left side power with the 2 black and red wires previously on the PL36 board to...

Unwell Phase Linear 700 series II

Hi All, It`s been a while since I posted, hope you`ve been keeping well. I`m liking the sites new look. I`ve been Phase Linear-less for a few years now but I`m back :). I just a acquired a model 700 which looks like it was manufactured yesterday, near mint condition but it`s very sick. The...

    BGW 210 power amp

HI all, hopefully some one here can shed some light on a power amp that doesnt seem to like a load placed on it :( With no load connected to the output, it will swing 36 vac with a clean waveform but as soon as you connect a load, the protection relay kicks in. Backing down the input...

    700B input coupling cap

I would like to replace the original electrolytic cap C22, whose value is 2.2uF@35v. Should I stay with those values or would something else be appropriate for my Rev C equipped amp? TIA

    Have you seen this?

Looks pretty cool. Can a 700B version be far behind? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phase-Linear-PL400-Amp-New-Reproduction-Laser-Etched-FacePlate-Just-FacePlate-/161728106889?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a7bf1189

    700B bench tested

I finally put the 700B on the scope :) 62.2v @ 7.5R at clip = 516 wrms 60v @ 6R at clip = 600 wrms I couldn't go lower than 6 ohms as the 5 amp rail fuses began to protest. Not too shabby for a 41 year old :)

    Vintage Infinity`s anyone?

Picked up a pair of Reference Standard 7 Kappa`s on a whim a little while back, 3 ways with a sealed 12" woofer, 4" dome midrange and ribbon tweeter. God damn, $400 speakers are not supposed to sound this good, what a pleasant surprise. I`ll refrain from describing them in detail for the time...

    JBL 4311 restoration

I just finished up a vintage studio monitor restoration. A hell of a lot of work but I think it was worth it. Here are some before and after pictures. I`ve documented the process in more detail over at Lansing Heritage if anyone one is interested...

    Look what followed me home

Nowhere near as pretty as El Magnifico`s, but she will clean up just nicely. I`ve had a soft spot for these amps since their introduction and was thrilled to have been offered this one by an old friend and co-worker. This particular amp came out of a popular live music nightclub here doing 24/7...

    Cool Phase Linear pictures

I stumbled upon these pics while browsing vintage PA posts. The first one is of Brittania Row amp racks used on a Pink Floyd tour. The second shows old school Clair Brothers and Audio Analyst racks with all 3 series of 700`s. Interesting collection of other amps as well, I can make out some...
