The Back to the Future Project ...

It has a stout drive train, but I will leave the details for a different thread. Nando.

The Back to the Future Project ...

Thanks, Tony. I may be ready in about two weeks to begin sorting through some music for this project. I have a time machine to play back all those classic songs. We bought this 1976 Buick Regal Sport Coupe on Father's Day of 2017: Nando.

The Back to the Future Project ...

I have a few more mix tapes (3) to complete before I get involved with this one. I like the concept you've come up for this one, Tony and Mike. I have lots of 70's music to draw from, including my original collection of records I bought new from that time period. And the music I listen to today...

Pics of your Favorite Cassette Tapes

You can't go wrong with many of the Sony vintage cassettes. I have more Sony blank tapes than I do of any other manufacturer because they are that good. Nando.

Pics of your Favorite Cassette Tapes

On the subject of Type I cassettes, this Fuji FR-I Super is an excellent tape. I was surprised how much signal it could take without compromising sound quality. This one could handle a peak recording input level of up to +3 dB. Nando.

    Sansui monster

This is the G-33000 that came into Innovative Audio back in May of 2013. It was about to be restored and I had just picked up my Pioneer SX-1980 receiver. My SX-1980 is the one on the rolling cart: Nando.

    Sansui monster

No problem in reliving those memories with enough cash-in-hand. All of the big vintage home audio gear from the 60's to 70's can't be reproduced, nowadays. It's truly amazing to see all of this gear still cranking after all those years. And back in the time, any of the truly good house parties...

    Cassette revival?

Where I live, lots of used cassettes - pre-recorded and good quality home-recorded - are available at thrift stores, but don't get picked. Vinyl is popular, however. I snag plenty of tapes and some of those are typically large drop-offs from the previous owner. I gave away a lot of my...

TRADE my nice Akai GX-747 for RTM SM 911 tape (NEW).

That is three laminated pieces, together, to make a side panel. It's called the "Oreo Sandwich Panel." Nando.

TRADE my nice Akai GX-747 for RTM SM 911 tape (NEW).

Akai GX-747s are a hot commodity because of its looks. The playback and recording performance of the GX-747 is good. With the bottom door intact and the dust cover, perhaps, into the $1500 range. Side panels for some buyers is a non-issue. Here's what was done on my own GX-747 after the buyer...

TRADE my nice Akai GX-747 for RTM SM 911 tape (NEW).

I would put the dust cover up for auction, soon, with Akai GX-747 fever going strong. A fair price for the deck. Nando.

TRADE my nice Akai GX-747 for RTM SM 911 tape (NEW).

I expect in the last few hours of the auction, the bids might climb to about $1K. Good choice to sell the dust cover, separately. I sold my Akai GX-747 (with extras) for $1500 about four years ago. Nando.

TRADE my nice Akai GX-747 for RTM SM 911 tape (NEW).

Quick work, Perry. Was it bought outright or did you work out a direct swap for tape? Nando.

    TC-RX80ES

Tony: Thanks. After using it all this time, it still throws me with the right-side orientation of the tape well and hitting the correct function buttons. It's the only deck I have to look at the buttons to figure out what action I want to take. Nando.

    TC-RX80ES

That's my KD-A7 pictured above. I use it in my downstairs stereo system. I have had to do zero maintenance on it since picking it up years ago. I keep the receipt taped to the back of the deck - dated 06-22-2010, $16.04. Nando.

    TC-RX80ES

I think it's a respectable deck, judging by the spec sheet on it. There was a mint one selling, locally, for a good price. The integral spectrum analyzer is somewhat like the feature on the JVC KD-A7. And take a look at those stepped function control buttons on the Sony - Nakamichi Dragon...
