The Official Reel To Reel 'Porn" Thread

Hi Nando, I don't use the RT-909 very much. It was a real adventure getting it going so tend to use the 701 or the older Pioneer which came before the 909,707,701 series. I actually like the older Pioneer better in some ways (1011L or something like that) than either of the other Pioneers. I...

    Soldering Chips

Removal varies depending on the type of part. A vacuum solder sucking machine or even the spring loaded manual tool is really helpful. At a minimum clean, flux, flux, and more flux..... I find the hardest parts to remove are those which have been mechanically secured before being soldered...

    Soldering Chips

In addition to what is posted above: Be sure everything is clean. Use solder flux. Be sure your solder iron tip is in good condition and at the right temperature. Practice on some scrap parts or wire if you have not soldered in a while. Don't move or blow air on the solder joint while the solder...

    New Coffee - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...

My favorite for the past several years comes from Aldi's (Chain of German discount food stores in the midwest). They have a vacuum pack brick of German roasted for all of $5.00. It has converted many coffee drinkers from the more expensive stuff. Robert

    Secret Santa 2014

Many thanks to my Secret Santa (Sutton) for the wonderful gifts. Just what I needed, a tape eraser, some RTR leader and splice tape. I never dreamed that I would get one of the items on my list, let alone all of them. Thanks so much. Robert

    IC's interconnects and cabling.

I have a small boatload of those Monoprice (red and white) cables shown in the original post. Bought them for another one of those routing project ideas which did not work out as planned. Anyway, they work fine except are a bit of a pain to route if you are in a small space. Robert

    The Election!!!

Total agreement....... I'll even offer to bring the rope, tie the knot, and find a tall tree to dangle them from! Robert

    The Election!!!

BINGO!!! There is agreement on a variety of issues and that is where the involvement of everyone needs to happen. If this country is to survive the people had best start working together to solve the things they do agree on. For example, we both agree there is way to much waste. Great, why...

    The Election!!!

Lee, I can't wait..... FWIW, I was in Sheridan a few weeks back looking at houses. The need for a nice shop may require me to build, which would be an interesting adventure from 900 miles away. It will happen one of these days.... Robert

    The Election!!!

I agree everyone should voice their opinion..... However, I totally disagree with your point that all is wonderful here in the northern winterland or the country. FWIW, I have lived in many parts of the country and things are not wonderful here or in most parts of the country for the average...
