Gene, been through this myself. Having never owned a tape deck, it took some reading and experimenting until I learned how the tape loops work. 50% of the time I still hook up the PL1000S2 up backwards in the Tape 1 loop when swapping the preamp in and out. Glad you got this figured out! Enjoy...

When Marias' son was mixing, perhaps he left a tape monitor circuit engaged.

I run the second tuner on Tape 2. I use Tape 1 In and Out for the PL1000S2. I switch the PL1000S2 in and out of preamp circuit using the Tape 1 monitor switch.

Wonder if it's in tape monitor mode. Can always hook tuner up to tape or any other higher level input jack. Then play with the switches. Just don't plug into the phono section.

You do have the tape monitor switches off?

This has a headphone jack? That could be the issue. Spray DeoxIT in it and work the jack.

4 ground planes labeled on board. Since both channels are affected equally, I'd suspect a issue with the Power Ground plain or Power Rails. Do continuity checks between all ground rails and main ground. Then voltage checks for the + and - rails, using the associated ground plane. I assume the...

Just saw your regulater VDC post. And those readings are the same further out the board away from the regulators, using the ground rail?

Earlier thought you said no sound and rail voltage is correct at +-23 v. The PL2000 preamp will reduce output as rail voltage is reduced. Maximum I run is appx +-17 VDC because of the opamps. The higher level inputs play just fine at 1/2 normal rail voltage, but at reduced output. Are you sure...

Yup, looks like a hot rod. But it's Pro Street, with all the very best parts available inside!

I'd input a sine wave of appx 500 Hz at the input jack and start checking the circuit with a scope to see where the signal is lost. With only a DMM, you can still do resistance checks through various circuit legs, checking for bad joints, switches, pots, ribbon cables. The opamp. Print out the...

Also check polarity of all polarized components that were replaced since it last worked.

Switches and pots, any small signal transistor. Occasionally a opamp.

    what are you listening to?

Classic Rock on the PL5100S2 tuner. WONE FM, Rubber City Radio.

Best AM FM Stereo RF Generator for a Newbie

Yup. Think Windows 7 was last OS with HyperTerminal. I never used it or learned about it as I had no equipment or application requiring it. Tried 4 or 5 different free emulators for Windows 10. PuTTy seems easiest for me to use for serial communications.

    Finally a tube amp!!

That's really nice. A true survivor.

Best AM FM Stereo RF Generator for a Newbie

So how close did I get originally setting the Panasonic Signal Generators frequency by using it to transmit to a SDRPlay receiver? Damn close. Close enough that a frequency standard really isn't needed. But it's nice to have a standard available. Not doing anymore to the Panasonic until I have...

Best AM FM Stereo RF Generator for a Newbie

I got lucky. Unit passed POST and the OCXO is heating and adjusted easily. I'll let it sit and cook a couple hours.
