Excellent suggestion! Does the resistor get all that warm? I’m guessing if you’re cranking it maybe.

Thank you so much! Yeah I would work hard for them too! Being their father I know that you have no problem, but do others have trouble telling them apart? Lol, I’m kind of glad I didn’t...
So, I’ve had the amp up and running for nearly a week now. Got voltages set and all is great, offset is under 5mV regardless of where the gain control is. It’s been rock solid and playing flawlessly, sounds really good actually.
One issue/question I was hoping to get resolved. The owner...
Nice! And thank you. You look like a lucky father. They look to be about the age that I fear the most with my daughters lol. Hopefully they’re kind to me as they age.

Yeah he has some pretty nice speakers. Really though it’s his money and he can do what he wants with it. Not sure if you read through the thread or not, but he has decided not to go “all out” with this one since it’s a rare very early model which is clearly not as stable as it’s improved...
Wow! A lot of action I didn’t know about. Okay, no 4 ohm speakers. I had to step away from electronics for a bit, my wife just gave birth to twin girls and I had to spend quite a bit of time before hand prepping a nursery and just overall preparing. Of course after they were born I didn’t have...
I’ve been waiting sometime for White Oak to get the filter caps in stock, they emailed me and I now have them, thank you White Oak! I feel the pain, parts are getting scarce, Mouser just shorted me almost half my order of items that said were in stock when I placed the order, now those parts...
I went ahead and replaced the MM4003 and 40327 pairs. I pulled them and the pair on the left channel were measuring with an hFE of around 40 each and the right they were around 170 each. I matched some (I know they don’t need to be) and put them in.
Would it be wise to pull the...
Yeah, that’s what I figured they figured out. So I found that the “blank” ones do have writing on the sides of the case. They say “PAT 3242555 FB” and at the very end I think it says 38. They’re all pretty warn.
Since the numbers end in 2555, I’m guessing they are some form of the 2SD555...
Thank you for the feedback. So here are the columns as the sit.
From the transformer here are 1 and 2:
And here are 3 and 4:
You can see that in all of 1 and 2 they are all 2SD555 with the exception of two. The two in the very bottom row are blank.
In column 3 and 4 every single...
Some may remember a thread I posted a little while back trying to figure out what amplifier I had exactly. It belongs to a buddy and he wanted me to White Oak it, but we found through the help of this forum that it’s one of the earliest 700s (only 16 outputs) that was put out and from the...
