The ten most significant amplifiers of all time

Old article, but new to me, hope it's new to others also. My favorite brand gets lots of love. Any others come to mind? http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/the-ten-most-significant-amplifiers-of-all-time/

    Wire Strippers for Teflon wire

Those black plastic strippers were my favorites back in the late seventies and early eighties when I was installing car stereos. You could stick a speaker wire in and strip both at once. I believe the first pair I got were made by Amp and cost about $80 back then, but they were great for that...

    Wire Strippers for Teflon wire

Here's an example of a strip and a cut on some 12 gauge, along with a picture of the jaws. I stripped a really tough piece of 10 gauge after this strip, and they don't work so well on smaller wire now. I believe I damaged the jaws in the process. They have a ten year warranty, so I emailed Capri...

    Wire Strippers for Teflon wire

I bought these wire strippers several months ago for my toolbox, since I'm about to embark on a WOPL400 of my own I decided to test them on Teflon wire. I can report that they work really well, nice clean stripping and very minor nicking of the wire. I've tried from 22 to 10 gauge wire with...

    Speaker hookup question

I usually refer my son to this site http://carwirefire.com/subwoofers_sigle_voice_coil.html or this page for DVC setup http://carwirefire.com/subwoofers_dual_voice_coil.html very clear and easy NGP

I totally agree with Gepetto, spend your money on speakers and of course AMPLIFIERS! ... and what he said, if you play vinyl. NGP

    PL400 Quasi to FC?

I went ahead and emailed Joe, he sells the Bergquist pads, not $10 per 100, but I only need 16, I ordered 20 to have some spares Is there anything else I'm missing? I plan on attempting my own meter lighting and DC protect board, perhaps fans also. NGP

    PL400 Quasi to FC?

Oh great, I've already placed my order with Joe, Sil pads from him run $.50 each anyway. Where does one acquire Sil pads at $10 per hundred? I've read elsewhere that the mica transferred heat better, not true I guess. I'm all for avoiding getting that goop all over, it always ends up on my...

    PL400 Quasi to FC?

Lee, Thanks for the advice, you should hit up Joe for comission! I ordered the wire kit in spite of the stash at work, gotta keep Joe busy. I'll post about my adventures when I get rollin'. Happy Trails, NGP

    PL400 Quasi to FC?

This should give me a good start, lots of colors and sizes. Everything it takes to rewire a PL400 is basically scraps.
