Well the fan kit is about the only thing I could have afforded in 1980.

Now,37 years later I might be able to swing the speaker stands.

    Like my BlueTooth ?
Damn, the PL 400 has not made it back up to more than or equal to retail of the 80's. Guess I will hold mine for a good while longer. 10 years more and It will make it !

The value is there if you adjust for inflation

If we assume a used PL400 avg selling price in 2017 is $400, in 1980 that would be $132.

That $700 new price in 1980 would cost you $2,113 today. Looking around Crutchfield for a 200 watt per channel two channel amp, that $2,113 price is in the the ballpark.

I did not know 4 speaker models existed at that time. I also though the 8000 turntable was introduced after Pioneer bought the brand, but the price list says otherwise.

My 8000 turntable was $675 in 1982. I guess I got a deal on that.

The PL8000 service manual is Phase Linear Lynnwood Wa.

The PL8000A Manual is from International Jensen.
